7 Ways to Get Non Search Engine Traffic

website promotionGetting a decent ranking with the search engines does take time, and if you want to see a paycheck now, then you will need to do a little promotion work.

Relying solely on the search engines is an extremely big mistake, especially when there are so many low & no cost promotion strategies you can implement today, so you can start seeing traffic, clicks, and sales immediately.

Let’s have a look at the most effective one’s here:

1. Submit Articles

An excellent free promotion strategy I personally use is to write quality articles related to the topic of my site, then submit them to ezine publishers, site/blog owners, and article directories.

It’s a “win-win” situation as the publisher gets original content to send to their subscribers and/or visitors, and you get some free exposure for your site.

Just be sure to include your “resource box” and require that the article is published “as-is” with your credentials attached. Any reputable marketer will adhere to your policies.

You can see a good example of my article promotion here.

2. Participate In Forums

A few value-adding contributions to relevant forums with links back to your website in your signature file will bring visitors to your website. Again, the more time and energy you invest in establishing a credible profile in a forum, the more traffic you will send to your website

The trick is not to blatantly advertise in your posts, but to provide the reader with real help and value, do this and you’ll be surprised how much traffic you can get

3. Create a Blog

One thing you must be clear about from now: Blogging is not a choice anymore. If you want traffic, attention, great search engine rankings, and profits from any kind of presence on the web, you simply must have a blog.

Blogs offer the ability to get instant feedback and followers. People expect to be able to interact with websites now. One-way communication is the realm of very large shopping sites where the only purpose is to take orders from people who have already made up their minds about products by talking to other people online!

And where do they talk? They get their advice from bloggers, social communities, and review sites where they can post questions about products and ask who has the best deals. Blogger reviews of products and services weigh heavily on their followers.

The day is soon approaching when almost every website will have a blog attached to it or will run entirely on blogging software. The benefits of blogs are just too many to pass up.

4. Syndicate Your Content

Syndicate your content through other web sites, thus generating more exposure, traffic and recognition. Using RSS, other web sites can easily publish your content and bring you more visitors. It’s easy, once you know exactly how to do it.

Promoting your RSS feed through various specialized RSS search engines and directories will generate even more fresh and high-quality traffic, the people that are actually interested in your content and your products. But do you know where to submit your RSS feeds to get the most exposure?

Here is where I submit my rss feeds

5. Join Social Networking Sites

Social networking is another method of website promotion for marketing your information, product or service on the Internet. It’s fast, effective and extremely helpful in creating awareness on the online social networking sites where people have chosen to hear about the kind of news you have got to spread on the net.

Social Media Marketing via social media websites means to:

  • Introduce a web page by its title to the social media,
  • Connect that title at the social media site to the web page of your site by a link,
  • Set keywords for the new content by assigning tags for your web page, and
  • Inform your friends on the same social media of the new web page.

This way the readers of each of your friends could turn into another source of traffic for your new web page. Such multiplication of traffic is unique, quick and to the point. Website promotion of this type could end up in lots of other back links from the sources that could even be entirely unknown to you.

Social networking sites boost your website visibility at search engines too, because each new back link is a new positive point for your website. You find frequent and repeat visitors. Social media provides this opportunity for you while your RSS, newsletter, etc subscription keeps them coming as enthusiasts. So, you build a list of valuable prospects that form your future fans or clients.

6. Get Free Publicity

Free publicity is a potential way to promote your business. Being featured regularly in the newspapers and magazines your target audience reads is invaluable.

Editorial coverage gives you a huge amount of credibility. It’s an independent trusted person talking about your business – the total opposite of an advert, where you’re delivering your message.

Getting publicity isn’t difficult if you know what you’re doing. All you need to do is decide what you want to achieve (more brand awareness; website visits; maybe more sales leads), think up some story ideas, and then submit them to the media as press releases. And keep submitting idea after idea… publicity is a long-term game.

Here are 21 killer ideas you can use to make publicity a major part of your marketing mix.

7. Publish an E-Report or E-book

Creating brandable reports and give others an amazing incentive to pass them on to others by including their website address inside the report is what’s known as VIRAL marketing. It is a simple but highly effective strategy that’s already been used and proven to work countless times to generate massive traffic and sales for all sorts of products and services online.

Here’s how it works…

  • Create (or aquire the private label rights to) a high quality ebook or special report that promotes your products, websites, and offers
  • Allow others to easily brand it with their website url, autoresponder address, affiliate link(s), etc.
  • Give it away or sell it with “Resale/Branding Rights” included, then hold on tight… your new, customized ebook is about to spread like a MAD VIRUS!

The key obviously is being able to create quality material AND convert it into a “brandable” format that others can easily customize with their affiliate IDs and/ or links.
