Domain flipping is one of the most rewarding businesses a person can conduct online. If you have to make a couple of hundred or thousands of dollars really fast, there is no better method then to start a domain flipping business.
Domain flipping business has been around for a while now and many people have seen it as a potential source for big dollars with the least amount of input. The most common reasons as to why domain flipping is becoming a huge side business is because of its simplicity, very low initial investment and the potential to make profits ranging to hundreds of thousands of dollars. You can get started for as little as $8, and then turn around and make $40-50 or even up to $400 or $500 on a one time $8 investment. There are some people who have sold domains for millions! And all this is usually achieved by just registering a domain and putting it up for sale. The rest of the process can be monitored from the comfort of your own chair, sofa or bed!
With the right amount of patience, input and time, you can make a considerable amount of money and enjoy doing that. I have seen some forums and blogs mentioning that domain flipping is a dying business. Their justification stamps from the mindset that “.com domain is the internet!” Since it’s getting more difficult to find great .com domains, many people think that domain flipping will die out too. I do not agree with this theory. On the contrary, I believe that domain flipping will remain at its peak as long as the internet exists. Please do not be swayed by the unsupported arguments of these people. If you are considering an entry into domain flipping business, by all means do so.
Like any business, domain flipping will really start to make you money if you know the market or keep up to date with what’s hot. For example, the videogame market is huge at the minute and shows no sign of slowing down. So, a domain like “ultimatevideogames.com” could be a great domain to buy and sell to a video games retailer. Additionally, the property market is always a good one, so something like “lookingtobuyahome.com” would be perfect.
While these are two of the more obvious examples, they both go to show that knowing what’s hot (or what will be hot) is the way to succeed. Just like keywords are used to find websites themselves, so they can be used to your advantage when buying a domain. As an example, everyone uses credit cards, so you’d imagine it would be a good keyword search, with people looking for the best deals. And you’d be right – creditcard.com was sold for a cool $2.75 million in 2004. And now it’s just a portal advertising various credit card companies and deals, so the owner of the domain is probably making even more money from advertisers paying for spots! Not bad for a simple domain name, huh?
